My name is Pam Coleman and I am originally from Steuben County. My husband works for Indiana State Parks and I have lived from Clark County to Steuben County having various stops along the way. I have a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Purdue University and started my graduate work at Clemson University in South Carolina. When my husband was promoted to a regional position, we moved back “home” to raise our children. I was fortunate to be accepted into the Auditor’s office by then Auditor, now Councilwoman Linda Hansen. I served two terms as County Recorder and served 7 years as Auditor. I accepted a position with Peters Municipal Consultants starting January of 2014 and assisted local units of governments in budgeting, fiscal planning and various other financial matters from Fire Territories to Counties. Every day was a learning day as I was forced to learn an even larger picture of the overall effects of government responsibilities and taxes. While in serving at the county level, I was Legislative Chairman for the Recorders Association. Served as Northeast District Vice-President and President and served as Education Chair for the Auditor’s Association.
I was so excited when David called to see if I could help out on a part time basis to start. I have always loved the persons working for the Association and appreciate all they do to assist local government. I am hoping my past experience working in county government will give the staff a better understanding of the ins and outs of implementing legislative changes and how they impact the workflow and obligations they have on the various offices and departments within county government. It is my dream to be able to assist both new and experienced elected officials in understanding their role and how it effects their constituency.
I welcome the opportunity for questions and hope you feel comfortable to give me a call!
